I’m so excited to announce that as part of Until All Of Us Are Free, my partner Gabriel and I will be hosting community gatherings here in Seattle! These will be happening about once a month, and most of them will be at LANGSTON Seattle.
I’ve been thinking a lot about safety lately. What it is, what it isn’t, and what makes me feel safe and unsafe in this world. And I realized that time and time again, no matter who is in office in our government buildings, my sense of safety is tied to community and my connections to it. I know I’m not alone in this, and I’ve heard from multiple other liberation-minded folks in the area that they struggle with building community here. So I figured I’d see what we can do about it! Not only by creating a space for abolition-minded community to come together, but also to learn how to be in community in a way that helps liberate us all.
These meetings are a chance for us to come together and learn how to be in community together. These meetings will be guided by intersectional Black Feminist and Abolitionist tradition and anyone wishes to be in abolitionist community and learn how we can get through this together is welcome to join.
For the discussion portion, masks will be required to care for the safety of attendees, as well as to make this event more accessible for our disabled, chronically ill, and covid conscious community members. After the meeting, there will be brunch, and attendees will have the option to remove their masks for the brunch portion, keep their masks on if they like, or take food home to go. I’m so excited to spend time with y’all!
